5 Minutes Hairstyles For Your Braided Wigs

Let's deal with it—we've all had those mornings when it seems like the universe and all its elements are stacked up against us. You're running late because you partied late into the night with your best girls, and for some weird reason, your coffee hasn't kicked in yet. What's worse?  Your hair is a mess and your braided wig is just sitting there, staring at you like, "Errmm? What shape shifting tricks do we have up our sleeves today, ma'am?"

Breathe in. Now, breathe out because right in this blog are five styles you can make with your braided wigs in just five minutes. You'll spend less time rolling this braid and curling that strand, but they'll  have you looking like you spent hours primping them, even if you barely had time to brush your teeth.

  • Messy Bun

  • When Queen Bey sang “I woke up like this,” they were referring to this hairstyle. Though this style has an “I may have overslept but you'll never know” undertone, it still exudes some level of cool effortlessly.

    Steps:

    • Pull your braids together to form a high ponytail.
    • Twist the ponytail around your hand and wrap it around its base.
    • Secure with bobby pins or scrunchie.
    • Gently tug at some braids by the sides to create that messy look.
    • Apply some hairspray and strut out the door!

Additional tip: Just in case someone asks, tell them you spent hours to achieve such a messy masterpiece. We won't tell if you don't.

  • The "Half-Up, Half-Down" style

  • There's no hairstyle that takes people by surprise like this one. It is a perfect blend of beautiful chaos—business in front, and some partying at the back.

    Steps:

    • Separate your braids horizontally from ear to ear.
    • Pack the top section and secure with a cute scrunchie or hair tie.
    • Gently tug out the top section to give it a puff look.
    • Let the bottom braids stay fallen because as an independent queen, you can't be boxed.
    • Add a sparkly hair clip for some drama.

  • The Braided Crown of Glory

  • Looking in the mirror and affirming that you are royalty isn't enough. You also need to play the part and look like it. Who cares if tiaras are out of your reach when you've got some beautiful braided wigs in your arsenal?

    Steps:

    • Divide your wig from the front to the back.
    • Get some braids from behind one ear and bring it across your forehead.
    • Secure with bobby pins as you do so.
    • Repeat on the other side, overlapping the first section.
    • Tuck in any stray ends and secure with more pins.

  • The "Side Sweep"

  • This look is the perfect excuse to throw flirtatious winks at that guy who's been running tirelessly through your mind while blaming it on your temporary “one-eyedness”.

    Steps:

    • Gather all your braids to the preferred side.
    • Keep them firm behind your ear with a few bobby pins.
    • Use a decorative comb or barrette to hold braids in place at your temple.
    • Gently tug and arrange braids for some fluff and maximum drama.
    • Practice your smoldering one-eyed wink in the mirror.

Warning: You might need to prep your neck for the numerous hair flips that's to come, though.

  • The "Pineapple Paradise"

  • While pineapples are one one of the most delicious fruits this earth is blessed with, we aren't talking about the fruit in this context. For the petite ladies, this style should enhance your height. But it works for everyone.

    Steps:

    • Bend over from your waist, letting your braids fall upside down and pack them into one section
    • Secure with a large scrunchie, leaving the ends loose.
    • Arrange the loose ends to fan out like a pineapple crown.
    • Gently pull at the braids around your hairline for a softer look.
    • Stand up straight and marvel at your newfound height. Hello, weather up there!

Fun fact: This style not only looks cute but also protects your braids while you sleep. It's like a 2-for-1 deal, but for your hair!

With these five styles in your arsenal, you're ready to show up to your 9 a.m. job early even if you got out of bed by 9 a.m. without looking like you overslept.

Remember to throw on some confidence as you strut out the door; it is your best accessory.
